- Due Diligence
A global private equity firm focused on decarbonization engaged EDYMAC to support acquisition due diligence for a U.S.-based Synthetic Aviation Fuel facility.
Working alongside the firm's global investment team, EDYMAC evaluated the facility in its as-is condition, assessed the technology for fit-for-purpose suitability and readiness, and identified operational and equipment risks that could affect future performance.
EDYMAC also evaluated the existing design against the client's preferred technology, identifying integration requirements, equipment strengths, and critical modifications. These findings became inputs to the client's economic model, helping quantify the CAPEX required to achieve the investment thesis.
The conclusion was clear: the physical condition, technology integration requirements, and required capital investment did not support the expected return. The firm declined the acquisition.

From physical reality to investment decision.
Independent technical evaluation looking beyond the spreadsheet to understand the physics, condition, and operational realities behind the investment case.
Asset & Site Auditing
A forensic, boots-on-the-ground evaluation of the facility in its as-is condition, looking beyond the data room to understand the physical reality of the asset.
Technology Validation
Assessment of technology readiness and evaluation of existing systems against the client's intended technology pathway, identifying integration gaps, constraints, and required adaptations.
Techno-Economic Modeling
Translation of technical findings into realistic CAPEX and OPEX requirements, providing the investment team with a grounded basis for evaluating the project's economics.
Strategic Decision Support
Delivery of an independent operational risk profile and technical findings that gave the investment team the evidence required to make a confident Go/No-Go decision.
Forensic independent evaluation advisory meets financial clarity
Independent technical evaluation looking beyond the spreadsheet to understand the physics, condition, and operational realities behind the investment case.
On-Site Condition Assessment
Conducted a comprehensive physical review of the existing infrastructure to determine actual asset health versus the documented condition presented in the data room.
Technology Suitability Analysis
Evaluated the existing facility design against the client's preferred technology, identifying integration gaps, equipment strengths, and required system adaptations.
Operational Risk Profiling
Identified critical equipment vulnerabilities and systemic technical risks that would impact future up-time, reliability, and commercial readiness.
CAPEX and Economic Grounding
Quantified the capital requirements associated with adapting the existing facility to meet the client's technology and performance requirements, providing critical inputs to the investment model.
A model tells you what the plant should do. EDYMAC looks beyond the model to the physics behind the math.
Investment Impact & Findings
Asset Reality Check
Provided an unvarnished assessment of the facility's physical condition, exposing equipment vulnerabilities and infrastructure constraints not apparent from the data room.
Technology Integration Risk
Identified the gaps between the existing facility and the client's preferred technology, including equipment limitations, integration challenges, and required modifications.
Financial Clarity
Grounded the investment model in realistic retrofit requirements and associated CAPEX, revealing the true cost of achieving the project's intended performance.
Capital Protection
The combined technical and economic findings fundamentally changed the investment thesis. The private equity firm declined the acquisition, avoiding deployment of capital into an asset whose physical and economic realities did not support the expected return.
EDYMAC didn't validate the investment thesis. We tested it against the physical reality of the asset—and gave the investment team the confidence to walk away.
